Badenoch said that Starmer was wrong to choose Siddiq as an anti-corruption minister while all the investigations were still going on. She said that the situation shows that Siddiq has major problems with his ties to her aunt’s old government.

She was born in Sutton, London, on September 16, 1982. The professor she had as a father was Shafique Ahmed Siddique, and the woman who was her mother, Sheikh Rehana, came to the UK as a teenager to get political refuge. They got married in Kilburn in 1980 after meeting while Shafique was working on his PhD. Tulip was born in London at St. Helier Hospital. She has a brother named Radwan “Bobby” Mujib and a sister named Azmina Siddiq.

Tulip’s family moved to Hampstead when she was 15 years old. She was raised as a Muslim, and she has said that her family is open to all kinds of people in Britain. She grew up in north London’s Jewish community and went to Limmud events and seder meals with her friends. As a child, she met famous people like Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, and Bill Clinton, and she even went to the White House.

Tulip went to school at Mill Hill School, The Royal School in Hampstead, and Scholastica in Dhaka. She first got her bachelor’s degree in English literature from University College London. Her grandpa on her mom’s side, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was the first President and leader of Bangladesh. Several people in his family were killed in a military coup in 1975. Political Career

Tulip Siddiq joined the Labour Party when she was 16 years old because she saw how well the NHS took care of her crippled father. She looks up to Barbara Castle and says that her socialist mother and aunt shaped her.

She did work for Amnesty International, Save the Children, and the Brunswick Group. She also helped leaders like Sadiq Khan and Ed Miliband. In 2010, she became the first Bangladeshi woman to serve on Camden’s council. In 2008, Siddiq also worked for Barack Obama.
