Indiana College Basketball Star Aaron Etherington Unexpectedly Passes Away. Aaron Etherington, a popular athlete and former Hamilton Southeastern High School star player, died suddenly on Tuesday, January 13, 2025. This was sad news for the basketball community. He was only 25 years old. Hartley Funeral Homes confirmed the sad news, but the reason for the death has not been said.
Many people will remember Aaron Etherington as a talented basketball player who stood out at every stage of his career. Growing up in Noblesville, Indiana, he became interested in basketball at a young age because his family was very competitive.
Aaron was the youngest of three boys, and all were great at basketball. Austin, his brother, played football for Indiana University and Butler University. Alex, his other brother, played football for Indiana State University and the University of Indianapolis. Aaron followed in their ways and left behind a great legacy.
Aaron was very good at Hamilton Southeastern. He scored 13 points, grabbed 4.5 boards, and passed the ball 2.8 times per game on average as a senior. He played so well that he was named to the 2018 IndyStar Boys Basketball Superteam.

This made him even more of Indiana’s best high school basketball stars. He had one of his best games in the sectional championship game against the state’s top-ranked team, Carmel. He scored 18 points and grabbed four boards, leading his team to victory in a tough game.
Many people saw Aaron’s promise, and PrepHoops ranked him as the No. 9 best recruit in Indiana. He was a useful and flexible player because he could score, pass, and grab rebounds. When he graduated from high school, he made a promise to play basketball at the University of Toledo.

He then moved on to play basketball at the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) and then at St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, where he continued to do well on and off the court.
Aaron made a difference everywhere he went. His friends, coaches, and fans all admired him for how hard he worked, how humble he was, and how good a sport he was. He got better at what he did at UIndy and St. Francis, where he made a big difference in the wins of his teams.
